Sixteenth-rankedBuyukcekmece (2-13) made lots of trouble for seventh ranked Efes (9-6) in Istanbul on Monday. The visitors managed to secure only two-point victory 87-85 . However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely Buyukcekmece outrebounded Anadolu Efes 35-20 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Anadolu Efes shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Anadolu Efes made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for American-Polish Jordan Loyd (193-1993, college: Indianapolis) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 5 rebounds. American Saben Lee (188-1999, college: Vanderbilt) helped adding 15 points and 10 assists. The best for the losing side was Dutch point guard Keye Van Der Vuurst (191-2001) with 15 points and 8 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Senegalese center Aziz Bandaogo (213-2001, college: Cincinnati) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Four Anadolu Efes and five Buyukcekmece players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Anadolu Efes moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Erokspor. Loser Buyukcekmece stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost.
