There was no surprise when 8th rankedKayseri (4-11) was crushed at home by third ranked Mersin (10-4) 98-68 on Sunday. Mersin made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. Mersin outrebounded Kayseri 45-25 including a 39-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Mersin looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Ukrainian swingman Alina Iagupova (186-1992, agency: LBM Management) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and American guard Kennedy Burke (185-1997, college: UCLA) chipped in 11 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Mersin players scored in double figures. Mersin's coach Georgios Dikaioulakos felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Merve Ari (180-1998, agency: 0z Sports Agency) responded with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and American point guard Crystal Dangerfield (165-1998, college: UConn, agency: LBM Management) scored 19 points. The victory was the third consecutive win for Mersin . They maintain third place with 10-4 record having four points less than leader Fenerbahce, which they share with Emlak. Loser Kayseri keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost.
