| Winnipeg Sea Bears re-sign ‘Beast from River East’ - by Eurobasket News |
The Winnipeg Sea Bears have their first captain back under contract with a new deal for the so-called ‘Beast from River East’. Hometown product Chad Posthumus (6'11'-C-1991, college: Morehead St.) of Winnipeg will be posting up defenders at the Canada Life Centre again this season after he agreed to a new contract. Posthumus scored their first ever game-winning basket in their inaugural season and lead the entire Canadian Elite Basketball League in offensive rebounds with 70. He’s thrilled to be staying home.“It’s great,” Posthumus told the 680 CJOB Sports Show. “It’s awesome. It’s honestly just a wonderful opportunity to be back here in Winnipeg with the best fans in the league by far. Really excited for the upcoming season here. “It’s the things that you dream of, right, being able to kinda play at home in front of all your friends, family and just the community. And just how everybody bought in and the engagement that there was. In Canada Life Centre was amazing. And it’s only going to (be) better this year. I’m told they’ve already sold double the season tickets of last year.” The 33-year-old, six-feet-11-inch big man is entering his fifth season in the league on this his fifth different team. He’s also played for the Saskatchewan Rattlers, Ottawa BlackJacks, Edmonton Stingers, and Hamilton Honey Badgers. “Chad is a key figure for our Sea Bears team on and off the floor,” head coach and general manager Mike Taylor said in a media release. “He has contributed so much to the start of our team on the court including his memorable game-winning put-back in our inaugural game.” He averaged just under seven points per night in his first year with the Sea Bears and admits he didn’t have the greatest season. “It was a little rougher for me on the court,” he said. “Maybe I got caught up in, guess you could say, caught up in the lights of being at home a little bit. But looking to build on that for this year, still did really well.” Posthumus is just their second player under contract after recently re-signing league MVP Teddy Allen (6'6'-G-1998, college: NM State). Training camp begins on May 13. Courtesy of: globalnews.ca |

| Ongwae, Ogechi and Awich to link up with Morans in Tunisia - by Eurobasket News |
Three diaspora-based players will link up with Kenya Morans in Tunisia for the FIBA Afro-Basket Window 1 Qualifier, coach Cliff Owuor has revealed. The tactician said they are making plans to airlift Tylor Ongwae (201-F-1991, college: ULM) from Germany, Derrick Ogechi (190-G-1998, college: Midwestern St.) from Spain and assistant captain Joel Awich (201-F-1993, college: Cal Poly) who plays in France. “Getting all diaspora-based players has not been that positive but we are still hoping to get Tylor, Ogechi and Awich to join us directly in Tunisia for the show,” said Owuor. The inability to have everyone in camp for intensified training is another challenge facing the team ahead of the three-day tournament. “For us not being able to get the players in camp is a big challenge as we can’t get them at the exact time we want them and this tampers with consistency,” Owuor lamented. He added: “I am sure we can do some catch-up if we can have everyone in camp.” Owuor said the team’s defence remains a matter of concern but they are working on it to have it tightened ahead of their Group ‘E’ opener against Tunisia on February 23. “The defence isn’t tight as I want it to be. We ought to have done better in defence against a Nairobi Select team,” observed Owuor. “We allowed them to reach 100 points, which is not a mark of a good defence. I hope to rectify that within the remaining days.” The national side, who will also play Angola and Guinea, beat Select 104-100 and also won 86-83 against a local South Sudan side in another friendly tie. Morans got a huge boost from the Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo who on behalf of his foundation, donated two sets of playing kits. In a function held at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium, Owalo also, through captain Victor Bosire, gave the national side a token of Sh200,000 as a morale booster. “I have been a sportsman. It Is a question of giving back to the game. Basketball played a fundamental role in making us what we are today,” said the CS, himself a former basketballer. “You can make it through with team effort, commitment from everybody and above all discipline from the players.” Former national team player and coach Ronny Owino wished the team good luck and urged them to give their best adding, “It’s never easy out there.” Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) disclosed that the team will jet out next week for the show. They are in Group ‘E’ and will meet Tunisia, Angola and Guinea. Courtesy of: the-star.co.ke |

| Delon Wright Bought Out By Wizards, Plans To Sign With Heat - by Eurobasket News |
Veteran guard Delon Wright (6'5'-G-1992, college: Utah) has reached an agreement on a contract buyout with the Wizards, agent Greg Lawrence tells ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. According to Wojnarowski, Wright intends to sign with the Heat after he clears waivers. Wright, 31, has been with the Wizards since signing a two-year, $16MM contract with the club as a free agent in 2022. He appeared in 83 total games for Washington across those two seasons, averaging 6.1 points, 3.3 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in 20.2 minutes per game, with a shooting line of.450/.350/.854. Viewed as an obvious trade candidate this season due to his expiring $8.2MM deal and the Wizards’ place near the bottom of the NBA standings, Wright was mentioned in several rumors leading up to last Thursday’s deadline. However, he stayed put, with Josh Robbins of The Athletic subsequently reporting that the offers Washington received for the 31-year-old were “underwhelming” and would’ve required the Wizards to take on salary beyond this season. After averaging 15.1 minutes per contest in his first 29 games this season, Wright logged just 18 total minutes in the Wizards’ first four games after the trade deadline, signaling that he was no longer part of their plans, so his buyout agreement doesn’t come as a huge surprise. Wright has a somewhat limited offensive game, but is a solid passer who takes care of the ball and can make an open three-point shot. Much of his value stems from his play on the other end of the court, where he’s an active, versatile perimeter defender. He’ll join a Heat team that lacks depth at the point guard position following Dru Smith‘s season-ending injury and the January trade sending Kyle Lowry to Charlotte. Players like Terry Rozier, Tyler Herro, and Josh Richardson have played the position for Miami this season, but none are prototypical point guards, and Rozier and Richardson are both currently injured. Wright will give the club another ball-handling option in that role. The Heat have an open spot on their 15-man roster, so no corresponding move will be necessary to make room for Wright. Miami is permitted to sign Wright despite being over the first tax apron because his pre-waiver salary was less than this season’s non-taxpayer mid-level exception ($12.4MM). Filling their 15th roster spot will allow the Heat to use their two-way players in up to 50 games apiece, Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald notes. As long as Miami had an open roster spot, those three players will limited to a combined total of 90 games played. The Wizards have just 13 players on standard contracts once they officially waive Wright. They'll have up to two weeks to re-add a 14th man. Courtesy of: hoopsrumors.com |
| Pacers' Mathurin wins Rising Stars MVP on All-Star Weekend - by Eurobasket News |
There would be no Victor Wembanyama (7'4'-F-2004)-Chet Holmgren (7'1'-F/C-2002, college: Gonzaga) showdown thanks to Mac McClung (6'2'-G-2000, college: Texas Tech) and several members of the G League Ignite squad. Instead, Bennedict Mathurin (6'6'-G/F-2002, college: Arizona) had a chance to be the hometown hero as the Indiana Pacers guard led Team Jalen to victory in Friday night's NBA Rising Stars game. Mathurin scored 18 points and hit the game-winning shot in the semifinal appearance against Team Tamika before helping in a balanced effort against Team Detlef in the final. For his efforts, Mathurin was named the game's MVP and drew numerous MVP chants from the Gainbridge Fieldhouse crowd throughout the games. "It was fun. It was fun to see, to receive those chants," Mathurin said. "The Rising Stars Game, I feel like I haven't really gotten that feeling in the NBA. One day I want to be MVP, so it was great to have that feeling pretty early in my career." Under the new Rising Stars format started in 2023, the rookies, sophomores and select G Leaguers are split into four teams. Teams play semifinal games against each other to a target score of 40 before the final goes to 25. In the final, a rested Team Jalen quickly jumped out to a 10-4 lead and controlled the game from there finding a quick end with back-to-back 3-pointers by New Orleans Pelicans guard Jordan Hawkins (6'5'-G-2002, college: UConn) and Oklahoma City forward Jalen Williams (6'6'-G/F-2001, college: Santa Clara) to win 26-13. It's the second Rising Stars victory for Mathurin; he was on Team Pau who won the event in 2023. Mathurin, who had teammates Tyrese Haliburton, Myles Turner and Obi Toppin sitting courtside, had a chance to win the semifinal with a pair of free throws in the first game, but the 82.5% free-throw shooter missed both. The next time down, he made sure to make up for it with a turnaround jumper for the win. "I saw a couple shots going in and I was like, it's a wrap," Mathurin said about what got him going in the first game. "If I'm being totally honest, it's also my city. I had to make sure I brought it home. So that was the main thing for me." Wembanyama and Team Pau couldn't overcome Team Detlef in their semifinal, despite 11 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks from the Spurs' rookie. Team Detlef led by as many as 12, but the Gasol-led team cut the lead to three late. In the end, G League Ignite forward Matas Buzelis (6'10'-F-2004), who is eligible for the 2024 NBA Draft, nailed a jumper to give his team the victory. "It was fun," Buzelis said. "It was good to compete with the best guys in the world and show what kind of talent I have. Excited for the future." On the game-winning shot, Buzelis pulled down an offensive rebound from Aldones Williams who is on a two-way contract with the Miami Heat after he missed a long 3-point attempt. "I got the rebound and I've been working on my post game, my post fade," Buzelis said. "I feel like I can make that shot every time. So I took it, and it went in." Despite the loss, the weekend isn't over for Wembanyama, who will participate in the Skills Challenge on Saturday night. "I mean it was kind of weird because at the same time I want to win and hate losing, but at the same time I have so much going on and that I'm happy that I just knocked one thing off the list this weekend," Wembanyama said. | Ziaire Williams, GG Jackson score 27 points apiece as Grizzlies hang on for 113-110 win over Bucks - by Eurobasket News |
Ziaire Williams (6'8'-SF-2001, college: Stanford) and GG Jackson scored 27 points apiece, and the Memphis Grizzlies held on for a 113-110 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night in the last game for both teams before the All-Star break. Vince Williams Jr. (6'6'-G-2000, college: VCU) added 18 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists for Memphis. Ziaire Williams’ points were a career high. “It feels good,” Ziaire Williams said of the win over the No. 3 team in the Eastern Conference. “Proud of this team. We’ve been fighting our (tails) off every game. It’s good to see. One man falls down, and another one steps up. We’re just having fun.” Giannis Antetokounmpo (6'11'-F-1994, agency: Octagon Europe) led the Bucks with 35 points and 12 assists, his 43rd double-double of the season. Damian Lillard (6'3'-PG-1990, college: Weber St.) finished with 24 points and seven assists. Bobby Portis (6'10'-PF-1995, college: Arkansas) added 15 points and Brook Lopez had 14 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks, but coach Doc Rivers thought some of his players got caught looking ahead to the break. “We had some guys here, and some guys in Cabo (San Lucas),” Rivers said. Memphis held a nine-point lead with 49 seconds left, but consecutive 3-pointers from Malik Beasley (6'5'-G-1996, college: FSU) brought the Bucks within 113-110 with 29.2 left. Milwaukee had the last possession, but a scramble at midcourt for the ball took up a lot of the remaining clock, and Lillard’s 3-pointer at the horn was short as Memphis won its second straight. “I think (Lillard) just got caught up in traffic,” Rivers said. Lillard said there was some miscommunication between he and Lopez that started the last play in a bad direction. “We did opposite things,” Lillard said, adding: “They just made a play on it, and it was loose and we didn’t end up getting a clean look.” While the teams were deadlocked at the half, Memphis took the lead to nine points on a couple of occasions near the midway point of the third. But the Grizzlies’ depleted frontline could do little to stop Antetokounmpo going downhill on his drives to the basket. Three quick buckets inside with about 5 minutes to play gave Milwaukee a 100-98 lead. The teams would trade leads until a 3-pointer from Jackson and an alley-oop dunk by Ziaire Williams and the ensuing foul shot took the Memphis lead to 107-102 with 2:15 left. The Memphis lead would reach 92-82 late in the third as the Grizzlies shot 76% in the period, including connecting on all four 3-points attempts. That as the only 10-point lead for either team in the game. Milwaukee got off to a poor start, something that worried Rivers even in his pregame comments. With the break looming, he worried his team may have already departed mentally. “These are tough games,” Rivers said, as if predicting the tone of the game against the short-handed Grizzlies. “Yeah, it’s a panic game for coaches.” The Grizzlies announced after the game they had lost another player, saying Scotty Pippen Jr. would miss at least three weeks with a bulging disk in his lower back. For the first half, Milwaukee couldn’t shake Memphis, and the teams were tied at 57 at the break. Antetokounmpo took over in the second quarter, with 10 points — hitting all five of his shots — and handing out four assists. Jackson led the Grizzlies with 19 points. He wasn’t as successful in the second half, but managed a couple of 3-pointers in the final five minutes as the Bucks were trying to make a comeback. The 19-year-old, who was the 45th pick in last year’s draft, said despite his young age, he wasn’t feeling the pressure. “It’s what every basketball player wants,” Jackson said. “If they don’t want to be in that moment, you have to question what kind of athlete they are.” Courtesy of: apnews.com |
| Warriors ride Thompson's big game off the bench to 140-137 victory over Jazz - by Eurobasket News |
Klay Thompson (6'6'-G-1990, college: WSU) came off the bench for the first time since his rookie season to knock down seven 3-pointers and score a season-high 35 points, leading the Golden State Warriors to a 140-137 victory over the Utah Jazz on Thursday night. Thompson was a reserve for the first time since March 11, 2012. Rookie guard Brandin Podziemski (6'5'-G-2003, college: Santa Clara) replaced him in the starting lineup and finished with 13 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. “You can do two things: You can pout or you can go out there and respond,” said Thompson, who became the sixth Golden State player to surpass 15,000 points. “I thought I did the latter very well tonight.” Coach Steve Kerr had a discussion with Thompson on Thursday morning where he informed him of the change in the starting lineup. Kerr acknowledged Thompson wasn’t thrilled with the decision and that fueled what turned out to be his best offensive performance in an up-and-down season. “It’s been a tricky season for him and for us,” said Kerr, who earned his 500th victory as Golden State's coach. “It’s not as easy to do what Klay did five or six years ago for him. I think this could be a good balance to get the best out of Klay and to get the best out of our team.” Draymond Green (6'6'-F-1990, college: Michigan St.) chipped in a season-high 23 points for the Warriors. Andrew Wiggins (6'7'-F-1995, college: Kansas) added 19 points and seven rebounds. Stephen Curry (6'2'-G-1988, college: Davidson) had 16 points and 10 assists. Thompson scored 17 points in the Warriors’ 84-point first half, but they needed a missed 3-pointer by Collin Sexton (6'3'-PG-1999, college: Alabama) to hold on for their eighth win in 10 games. Golden State made at least 20 3-pointers against the Jazz for the second time in four days after going 20 of 42 from the perimeter. The Warriors overcame 13 turnovers that led to 29 Utah points. Sexton led the Jazz with 35 points and nine assists. Rookie Keyonte George (6'4'-G-2003, college: Baylor) added a career-high 33 points while making a career-high nine 3-pointers. Lauri Markkanen (7'1'-F/C-1997, college: Arizona) finished with 20 points while John Collins tallied 18. They had 13 rebounds apiece. Utah lost its third consecutive home game and fourth straight overall despite shooting 22 of 49 from 3-point range. After trailing by 18 points to start the fourth quarter, Utah made it a one-possession game in the final two minutes. Markkanen and Sexton each made a pair of baskets to fuel a 13-2 run that cut Golden State’s lead to 138-137 in the final minute. Markkanen missed a potential go-ahead corner 3 and Collins grabbed the offensive rebounds but threw the ball away with 3.1 seconds left. Curry made two free throws with 2.4 seconds remaining before Sexton missed a good look on the final play. “Always tough to lose a close one,” Markkanen said. “We’ve got a lot of work to do as a team and individually. “ Utah and Golden State combined to make 29 3-pointers in the first half alone. The Warriors went 15 of 26 from long distance while the Jazz shot 14 of 28. Thompson made four baskets over the final three minutes of the first quarter. Then the Warriors took over entirely in the second quarter. Podeziemski scored 13 points during the period to help Golden State surge in front. He and Curry bookended a 14-4 run with 3-pointers to put the Warriors up 65-53. Golden State totaled 48 second-quarter points – a season high for both the Warriors and a Jazz opponent. Thompson stepped up his dominance after halftime, totaling 18 points in the third quarter alone. He made five baskets – including four 3-pointers – over a four-minute stretch to help Golden State extend its lead to 120-102 entering the fourth quarter. “For the majority of our game, the defense just wasn’t physical enough,” Jazz coach Will Hardy said. “Klay Thompson got away from us, especially in the second half. He made some tough ones.” Courtesy of: usatoday.com |

| College Park Heads into All-Star Break with 111-93 Win Over Birmingham Squadron - by Eurobasket News |
The College Park Skyhawks (12-8) defeated the Birmingham Squadron (8-12), 111-93 and head into the all-star break on a two-game winning streak. Tonight's win also clinched a sweep of the season series against the Birmingham Squadron. Jordan Bowden (6'6'-G-1997, college: Tennessee) netted a season high for the second game in a row, pouring in 25 points behind 7-10 shooting from deep, adding two steals, two rebounds and one assist in 29 minutes. Since joining College Park, Bowden has gone 12-16 from downtown (.750 3FG%) and 17-24 over his last three contests (.708 3FG%). Not far behind Bowden was Seth Lundy (6'6'-G/F-2000, college: Penn St.), who netted 19 points behind 6-13 from three-point territory, marking the fourth game out of his last five he has knocked down five-or-more triples. The duo of Bowden and Lundy are the first pair of Skyhawks since Dec. 6th to each pour in six-or-more threes in a game (Tyson Etienne (6'1'-G-1999, college: Wichita St.), six threes; Lundy, seven threes). Chris Silva (6'9'-PF-1996, college: S.Carolina) collected his seventh 20-point, 10-rebound game of the regular season, notching exactly 20 points and 10 rebounds, in addition to three assists, two blocks and one steal in 24 minutes. Vit Krejci (6'8'-G/F-2000) collected a career-high 12 rebounds, while Jarkel Joiner (6'1'-G-1999, college: NC State) (13 points) and Brandon Randolph (16 points) each poured in double digits off the bench. College Park jumped out to a quick start gaining an early lead in the first quarter at the 9:59 mark, which they would never relinquish for the rest of the game. An 11-2 run at the front end of the third quarter, bolstered by threes from Jarkel Joiner and Robert Baker (6'10'-F-1998, college: Harvard), would keep the game at bay as College Park would hold a double-digit lead from the 3:03 mark on. Birmingham was led by Dereon Seabron (6'7'-G-2000, college: NC State), who secured team-highs of 19 points and eight rebounds, while Izaiah Brockington (6'4'-G-1999, college: Iowa St.) and Jalen Crutcher each netted 15 points. The Skyhawks head into the break with a 12-8 record, sitting at fourth place in the East with 14 games remaining in the regular season. College Park will travel to Indiana on Feb. 22nd and then to Greensboro on Feb. 24th, before returning to Gateway Center Arena on Feb. 28th where they will start a six-game home stand with a matchup against Cleveland. | No. 2 Purdue rallies from 10 down to beat Minnesota 84-76 behind Edey's 24 points and 15 rebounds - by Eurobasket News |
Zach Edey (7'4'-C-2002) overcame a slow start with 24 points and 15 rebounds as No. 2 Purdue rallied from a 10-point deficit to defeat Minnesota 84-76 on Thursday night. The Boilermakers (23-2, 12-2 Big Ten), who trailed by 10 after the opening possession of the second half, turned to their 7-foot-4 senior All-American center to help lead the comeback. The reigning national player of the year shook off 3-of-9 shooting in the first half by moving closer to the basket with three dunks, the last slam pushing Purdue ahead 57-55 with 12:27 remaining. “Just throw it inside. Just use him,” Purdue coach Matt Painter said. "They know we have him and he's going to keep working.... I've watched him dominate games for four years now. “But you're not going to have success if you don't defend. If we weren't going to be better defensively, we weren't going to win the game.” Point guard Braden Smith (6'0'-PG) had 16 points, nine assists and eight rebounds for Purdue, which improved to 43-3 at home in the last three years, including 7-0 in Big Ten play this season. “That's who we are as a team — we stick together," Smith said. Mason Gillis hit four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points. Lance Jones (6'1'-G-2000) added 12 for Purdue. “We're experienced in different situations," Gillis said, referring to the halftime deficit. “When we look at each other and say, ‘We got this,’ we believe that and have confidence in each other.” The Gophers (15-9, 6-7) stunned Purdue early by going 9 of 16 on 3-pointers in the first half. Four different shooters hit 3s during a 19-3 run. “Our decision-making just wasn't very good in the first half and our attention to detail on defense wasn't very good,” Painter said. “They're a tough cover.” But then Minnesota went just 3 of 9 from long range in the second half. “We’re growing and we’re battle-tested,” Minnesota coach Ben Johnson said. “We can compete with anyone in the conference. We just have that one more step to take to be in the top half of the Big Ten." Despite a roster with only three seniors, Johnson's resurgent squad has improved dramatically from 9-22 last season. But the Gophers lack a signature road win in conference play, dropping to 2-5 in Big Ten away games. Dawson Garcia (6'1'-F-2001) led the Gophers with 24 points, including three 3s. Mike Mitchell Jr. scored 14 with four 3-pointers. Cameron Christie (6'6'-G) finished with 13 points, the freshman's fourth consecutive double-digit game. He also hit three 3s. “They're going in the right direction," Painter said of the Gophers. “They should feel good about where they are.” Courtesy of: yahoo.com |

| UConn star Paige Bueckers to return for 2024-25 season - by Eurobasket News |
UConn women's basketball star Paige Bueckers (6'0'-G-2001) announced Friday night that she's returning for the 2024-25 season, news that will send shockwaves through the Huskies and the WNBA, where she was projected to be a 2024 lottery pick. Bueckers made the announcement in front of a packed crowd at Gampel Pavilion during a senior night ceremony following the Huskies' 85-44 victory over Georgetown. "I know everybody wants me to address the elephant in the room," Bueckers said. "Unfortunately this will not be my last senior night here at UConn." Bueckers, a redshirt junior, was the projected No. 3 pick in ESPN's latest WNBA mock draft. Bueckers had previously hinted at the possibility of returning to UConn but saved the official announcement for Friday, ending any speculation about her future before the No. 15 Huskies (22-5) gear up for the NCAA tournament. "Just the family camaraderie here, just loving it here, loving my teammates, loving my coaches, me not having the four years that I planned on, not being able to play as much," Bueckers said when asked by SNY about her decision. "I just feel like I'm not done yet here. I feel like God is still writing my story here. I'm just blessed to be a part of this program, and I never want it to end." Bueckers led UConn to the Final Four as a freshman, becoming the first freshman to win the Wooden, Naismith, Associated Press and USBWA player of the year awards, before leading the Huskies to the national title game as a sophomore. But her past three years at UConn have been spoiled by what-ifs due to injuries, either her own or her teammates'. Following her stellar freshman season, Bueckers was limited to 17 games by a knee injury and then tore an ACL in August 2022, sidelining her for the 2022-23 season. In Bueckers' first full season back, she is averaging 20 points (shooting 53.2% from the field, 43.7% from 3), 4.6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2.2 steals and 1 block per game. However, the Huskies currently have five players out for the season because of injury, including Bueckers' close friend, Azzi Fudd. Bueckers and Fudd, both former No. 1 overall recruits, dreamt of playing and winning together at UConn, but because of their respective injuries have shared the court for only 17 games across three seasons, including just two this season. With Bueckers out last season, UConn was stunned in the Sweet 16 by Ohio State, snapping the program's streak of 14 consecutive Final Four appearances. The 11-time national champions have not won the national title since 2016, Breanna Stewart's senior year. Prior to this season's rash of injuries, optimism in Connecticut was high that this would be the Huskies' best shot since then of hoisting the trophy. "I think the great unknown is no pandemic, no injuries, what could it have been the last four years with a bunch of healthy bodies," coach Geno Auriemma said after the announcement. "The stars were all lined up wrong that contributed to the injuries, and then all the sudden they lined up right and it allows us to take advantage of these unique opportunities. "I just want it to work out for them, I really do. I desperately want it to work out for them." Auriemma, who with the victory tied Mike Krzyzewski for the second-most wins in Division I men's or women's basketball (1,202), also extinguished any doubt that he would be stepping away by confirming he'll be back next season. Also during the ceremony, graduate student Aubrey Griffin announced she will return. Griffin tore an ACL in January and has another year of eligibility left. Fellow seniors Nika Muhl and Aaliyah Edwards, who both could also return in 2024-25, were noncommittal on their impending decisions, although Auriemma indicated after the game that he thinks Muhl is "looking forward to the next step in her career... [but it] doesn't mean the season ends and she has a change of heart." Courtesy of: espn.com |
