Superliga Round 4 (Regular Season): Studenti is defeated by Partizani in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tirana: Partizani (#4) and Studenti (#5). Studenti was defeated at home 71-80 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Partizani outrebounded Studenti 38-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Bosnian point guard Andjela Gligic (169-2000) who helped to win the game recording 29 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Canadian-Jamaican center Jose-Ann Johnson (193-1993, college: Duquesne) who added 13 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side the former international point guard Megi Spahiu (174-2004) responded with 30 points and 8 rebounds. Partizani (2-1) moved-up to second place, which they share with Flamurtari. Studenti lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with three games lost.
Very significant was Tirana's (#1, 4-0) victory against 3rd ranked Vllaznia (2-2) 62-58. The winners were led by American guard Lovely Sonnier (183, college: LBSU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists and Ornela Lalaj supported her with 12 points and 17 rebounds. Even a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds by Bernarda Rreshpja did not help to save the game for Vllaznia. Tirana have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Vllaznia at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost.
Bottom-ranked Sopoti (0-4) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their fourth consecutive match to third ranked Flamurtari (2-1) 87-52 on Saturday evening. Sophia Jacobsson fired 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. Flamurtari's coach Gentiana Guci felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gledia Pulaj produced 25 points (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for lost side. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Partizani. Newly promoted Sopoti still closes the standings with four games lost.
