Regular Season Round 7: Unicaja - Maccabi T-A 82-68

No shocking result in a game when first ranked Spanish Unicaja Malaga (6-1) beat at home 5th ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A (1-6) 82-68 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Unicaja Malaga. Maccabi T-A was better in third quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Unicaja Malaga dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Maccabi T-A's 20 and made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Maccabi T-A was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American-Georgian Will Thomas (203-86, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 rebounds. American-FYR Macedonian power forward Richard Hendrix (204-86, college: Alabama, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American-Montenegrin point guard Taylor Rochestie (185-85, college: Washington St.) answered with 13 points and 4 assists and American-Israeli swingman Sylven Landesberg (198-90, college: Virginia) added 13 points in the effort for Maccabi T-A. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Unicaja Malaga maintains first place in Group D with 6-1 record, which they share with CSKA. Maccabi T-A lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. Unicaja Malaga will face Darussafaka (#4) in Istanbul in the next round. Maccabi T-A will play on the road against Banco di Srd in Sassari and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
