Regular Season Round 15: Baskonia - Maccabi T-A 101-88

No shocking result in a game in Vitoria where fifth ranked Spanish Baskonia (10-5) defeated 13th ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A (5-10) 101-88 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Baskonia. Maccabi T-A was better in second period 16-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Baskonia dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Maccabi T-A's 36. Baskonia forced 19 Maccabi T-A turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was German center Johannes Voigtmann (211-92) who scored 23 points and 9 rebounds. American point guard Shane Larkin (180-92, college: Miami, FL) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 assists. Four Baskonia players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Victor Rudd (205-91, college: S.Florida) who recorded 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import guard Andrew Goudelock (190-88, college: Charleston) added 13 points respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Baskonia moved-up to third place, which they share with Real Madrid and Olympiacos. Maccabi T-A lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Baskonia will face Unics Kazan (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi T-A will play against Darussafaka and hope to win that game.
