Regular Season Round 26: Anadolu Efes - Maccabi T-A 92-87
Date: March 16, 2017
Not a big story in a game in Istanbul where 13th ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A (9-17) was defeated by eighth ranked Turkish Anadolu Efes (14-12) 92-87 on Thursday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 26-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Maccabi T-A was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Uruguayan-Italian guard Jayson Granger (189-89) scored 22 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and French guard Thomas Heurtel (189-89, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 18 points and 8 assists during the contest. Granger is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Anadolu Efes players scored in double figures. American forward Victor Rudd (205-91, college: S.Florida) responded with 23 points and American-Israeli swingman Sylven Landesberg (198-90, college: Virginia) scored 20 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Anadolu Efes maintains eighth position with 14-12 record. Loser Maccabi T-A dropped to the twelfth place with 17 games lost. Anadolu Efes will face Zalgiris (#10) in Kaunas in the next round. Maccabi T-A will play on the road against Fenerbahce in Istanbul and hope to win that game.
