The biggest surprise of 5th round was Unics (3-2) road victory over league's leader CSKA (3-1) 71-69. It was significant upset for the host team. The best player for the winner was naturalized Belarusian forward Vladimir Veremeenko (208-84) who had double-double 14 points and 10 rebounds. Former international guard Zakhar Pashutin (196-74) helped with 17 points and 5 rebounds. American swingman Jamont Gordon (193-87, college: Mississippi St.) produced 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and former international swingman Viktor Khryapa (204-82) added 15 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Thanks to that win Unics moved-up to third place. Defending champion CSKA still keep top position with one game lost. They share it with Khimky. Unics are looking forward to the next round to face higher ranked Dynamo M. in Moscow. CSKA will play at home against Enisey hoping to win this game.
