Regular Season Round 9: Dynamo M. - Spartak SP 95-94 OT

Eighth ranked Dynamo Moscow won an overtime thriller defeating 7th ranked Spartak St.Petersburg by one point 95-94 on Sunday night. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and winning the game in overtime by 1 point. Dynamo Moscow made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 29 Spartak St.Petersburg turnovers and outrebounded them 34-21 including 22 on the defensive glass. Dynamo Moscow looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Center Varvara Psareva (194-85) stepped up and scored 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and forward Anastasia Pimenova (180-81) chipped in 23 points and 5 steals. The best for the losing side was international forward Katerina Keyru (182-88) with 23 points and 5 assists and guard Eugeniya Belyakova (182-86) scored 22 points. Five Dynamo Moscow and four Spartak St.Petersburg players scored in double figures. The victory allowed Dynamo Moscow (4-5) to climb to the fifth place. They share it with Chevakata. Spartak St.Petersburg is currently in seventh position with a 3-6 record. Dynamo Moscow is looking forward to face league's second-placed Nadezhda Orenburg on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Spartak St.Petersburg will play against Dynamo-GUVD (#7) in Novosibirsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
