Very expected game when 9th ranked BBC Nyon (2-13) lost on the road to fifth ranked Monthey (9-6) 90-80 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Monthey. BBC Nyon managed to win fourth quarter 24-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Monthey forced 23 BBC Nyon turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American-Jamaican forward Ronald Yates (201-83, college: St.Peter's) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. American forward Arizona Reid (196-86, college: High Point) accounted for 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Monthey players scored in double figures. American swingman Lester Hunte (196-88, college: Northwood Fl.) came up with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import center Cruz Daniels (211-85, college: High Point) added 8 points and 13 rebounds respectively for BBC Nyon in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Monthey has a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 9-6 record. BBC Nyon lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 13 games lost. Monthey will meet higher ranked SAV Vacallo (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BBC Nyon will play against Starwings (#7) in Basel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
