Another important game to mention about took place in St.Petersburg. Eighth ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (4-7) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 4th placed Dynamo Kursk (6-5) 73-70 on Saturday evening. It looked good early as Dynamo Kursk took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Spartak St.Petersburg had a 23-18 second period charge getting the lead and Dynamo Kursk was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-73. Spartak St.Petersburg outrebounded Dynamo Kursk 41-21 including a 30-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American power forward Jennifer Lacy (191-83, college: Pepperdine) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Estonian forward Merike Anderson (181-81, agency: LBM Management) helped adding 18 points and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Spartak St.Petersburg's coach Gennadi Schetinin allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American center Michelle Snow (196-80, college: Tennessee, agency: LBM Management) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds and forward Svetlana Maksimenko (183-82, agency: LBM Management) scored 17 points. Four Dynamo Kursk players scored in double figures. Spartak St.Petersburg moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Dynamo-GUVD. Dynamo Kursk at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Spartak St.Petersburg will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Dynamo Kursk will play on the road against the league's second-placed Nadezhda Orenburg (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
