Bottom-ranked BC Nizhny Novgorod managed to get a second victory, breaking the three-game losing streak. This time newly promoted BC Nizhny Novgorod won against seventh-ranked Triumph Lyubertsy in Lubertsy 82-69. The game was mostly controlled by BC Nizhny Novgorod. Triumph Lyubertsy managed to win fourth quarter 29-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BC Nizhny Novgorod outrebounded Triumph Lyubertsy 38-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for BC Nizhny Novgorod especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Triumph Lyubertsy was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Naturalized Belarusian forward Valentin Yurchyk (207-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Guard Dmitry Kulagin (195-92) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four BC Nizhny Novgorod players scored in double figures. Guard Andrey Mateyunas (180-88) replied with 18 points and 4 assists and forward Valery Likhodey (203-86) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Triumph Lyubertsy. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. BC Nizhny Novgorod (2-6) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Dynamo and Krasnie Krilya. Triumph Lyubertsy lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with five games lost. BC Nizhny Novgorod will play against Dynamo Moscow (#8) at home in the next round. Triumph Lyubertsy will play against Enisey Krasnoyarsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
