Regular Season Round 9: Khimky - Unics 83-88

PBL top team - Unics Kazan (7-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat sixth ranked Khimky (4-4) in Khimki 88-83. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-19. But Khimky won second period 17-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Unics Kazan made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Unics Kazan especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.5 percentage. American guard Terrell Lyday (190-79, college: BYU) stepped up and scored 29 points and 4 assists (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) for the winners and Polish-Swedish center Maciej Lampe (210-85) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American swingman Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) with 26 points and 5 rebounds and Croatian forward Kresimir Loncar (210-83, agency: Alti Sport) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Unics Kazan have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-2 record, which they share with CSKA. Khimky lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with four games lost. Unics Kazan will play against Dynamo Moscow (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Khimky will play against Enisey Krasnoyarsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
