A very interesting game took place in Nicosia. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 9th ranked Omonia (2-9) to seventh ranked AEK (4-8) 72-69 on Sunday evening. Omonia was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 22-13 third quarter run of AEK. They made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian forward Milutin Aleksic (203-82) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 8 rebounds. Swingman Nikos Papadopoulos (197-81) contributed with 9 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Lithuanian guard Linas Juknevicius (188-84) answered with 16 points and 6 assists and American forward Akida McLain (206-86, college: Indiana (PA)) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Omonia. Four Omonia players scored in double figures. AEK maintains seventh place with 4-8 record. Omonia lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. AEK's next round opponent will be higher ranked AEL (#6) in Limassol and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Omonia will play on the road against Etha in Nicosia.
