The game in Larnaca was quite interesting. 6th ranked AEL (4-7) played at the court of seventh ranked AEK (5-8). AEK managed to secure a 8-point victory 92-84 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of AEL. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-16. But AEL won third quarter 30-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American center Jordan Collins (208-82, college: N.Carolina St., agency: Strategic Sports) scored 23 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Nikos Papadopoulos (197-81) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four AEK players scored in double figures. American guard Brandon Ewing (187-86, college: Wyoming, agency: Interperformances) responded with 32 points and Serbian forward Dragoslav Papic (205-87, agency: Global Sports Plaza) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. AEK moved-up to sixth place. Loser AEL dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. AEK will meet league's second-placed APOEL in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. AEL will play against Etha (#4) in Nicosia and hope to secure a win.
