Regular Season Round 17: Monthey - Lugano Tigers 93-83

Top ranked Lugano Tigers (15-2) recorded its second loss on the court of fifth ranked Monthey on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by Monthey 93-83. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Lugano Tigers. The game was mostly controlled by Monthey. Lugano Tigers managed to win third quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Arizona Reid (196-86, college: High Point) who scored 29 points and 9 rebounds. American-Jamaican forward Ronald Yates (201-83, college: St.Peter's) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). American-Nigerian guard Michael Efevberha (196-84, college: Cal.St. Northridge) produced 27 points and 4 assists and American forward Mohammed Abukar (208-85, college: San Diego St., agency: Interperformances) added 29 points respectively for the guests. Monthey (11-6) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Geneve Lions and SAV Vacallo. Defending champion Lugano Tigers still keep top position with two games lost. Monthey is looking forward to face Geneve Lions (#4) on the road in the next round. Lugano Tigers will play against BBC Nyon and are hoping to win this game.
