Regular Season Round 21: Szeged - ELTE-BEAC 79-56

There was no surprise when 13th ranked BEAC-Ujbuda (1-19) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked Szeged (12-8) 79-56 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Szeged. BEAC-Ujbuda managed to win third quarter 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Szeged forced 23 BEAC-Ujbuda turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Szeged especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Ukrainian guard Maryna Sazonenko (175-86, college: Oregon St.) stepped up and scored 23 points and 5 steals for the winners and Serbian forward Iva Roglic (189-88) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was power forward Linda Karasz (187-86) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and guard Zsofia Katona (169-90) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Szeged maintains sixth place with 12-8 record. BEAC-Ujbuda lost their fourteenth game in a row. They stay dead last with 19 lost games. Szeged will meet Vasas-Csata (#11) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. BEAC-Ujbuda will have a break next round.
