Regular Season Round 18: Soproni - Konecranes 90-72

Bottom-ranked Salgotarjani (0-16) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 90-72 loss to seventh ranked Soproni (9-9) in Sopron on Sunday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Soproni. Salgotarjani was better in fourth quarter 28-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Salgotarjani 41-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American power forward Darian Townes (208-84) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds. International forward Zsolt Szabo (202-86, agency: Laszlo Vinko Services) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Four Soproni players scored in double figures. Soproni's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Andras Vavra (200-78) who recorded 19 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Chris Rodgers (193-84, college: Arizona) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Soproni maintains seventh position in Division with 9-9 record. Loser Salgotarjani still closes the standingsSoproni will face Marso-Vagep (#10) in Nyiregyhaza in the next round. Salgotarjani will play on the road against FS Debrecen (#13) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
