Salgotarjani's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after 17 consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Debrecen, where they edged FS Debrecen (1-18) 102-100. FS Debrecen was ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 22-19 charge of Salgotarjani, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 10-8. Salgotarjani shot 60.8 percent from the field and made 31-of-41 charity shots (75.6 percent) during the game. FS Debrecen was plagued by 33 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American guard Chris Rodgers (193-84, college: Arizona) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Forward Andras Vavra (200-78) helped adding 19 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). At the losing side Cameroonian forward Yves Mekongo (201-87, college: La Salle) responded with 30 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and American guard Chris Singletary (194-88, college: Kent St.) scored 16 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. FS Debrecen's coach Tamas Rathonyi tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Salgotarjani (1-17) left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place. It was FS Debrecen's fifteenth loss in a row. They dropped to the bottomSalgotarjani will play against higher ranked Kormend (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
