Regular Season Round 16: Etha - Apoel 58-66

Date: February 11, 2011
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Nicosia: APOEL (#1) and Etha (#3). Etha was defeated at home 58-66 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Etha. It looked good early as Etha took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then APOEL had a 17-11 second period charge getting the lead and Etha was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 58-66. Worth to mention a great performance of Croatian forward Zvonko Buljan (206-87, college: TCU) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Arthur Lee (185-77, college: Stanford, agency: Avi Zilberman) who added 13 points during the contest. Four APOEL players scored in double figures. At the losing side American power forward Anthony King (206-85, college: Miami (FL), agency: Interperformances) responded with 6 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks and his fellow American import guard Reggie Redding (196-88, college: Villanova) scored 8 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. APOEL have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 11-3 record. Etha at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Apollon. APOEL will play against Apollon (#3) in Limassol in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Etha will play on the road against the league's second-placed Keravnos in Strovolos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
