Regular Season Round 20: Kormend - Szedeak 88-80
Date: February 12, 2011
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Kormend (14-6) beat at home 12th ranked Szedeak (7-13) 88-80 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-17. But Szedeak won second period 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kormend made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. The winners were led by guard Marcus Moore (198-80, college: Washington St.) who scored that evening 38 points (!!!), 5 assists and 5 steals and forward Rashad Bell (201-82, college: Boston U.) supported him with 22 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Kormend's coach Balazs Sabali used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds by guard Janou Rubin (193-82, college: UCLA) did not help to save the game for Szedeak. Center Bryson McKenzie (211-83, college: N.Illinois) added 21 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) for the guests. Kormend maintains third position in Division with 14-6 record having just three points less than leader Szolnok. Newly promoted Szedeak dropped to the eleventh place with 13 games lost. Kormend will meet PVSK Pannon (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Szedeak will play against FS Debrecen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
