Regular Season Round 17: Triumph - Unics 84-95

Leader Unics Kazan delivered the twelfth victory. This time they beat 10th ranked Triumph Lyubertsy (4-12) 95-84 in Lubertsy. Triumph Lyubertsy was ahead by 7 points at the halftime before a 54-36 second half run of Unics Kazan. They also forced 20 Triumph Lyubertsy turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Unics Kazan especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. Triumph Lyubertsy was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international forward Kelly McCarty (201-75, college: S.Mississippi, agency: Avi Zilberman) orchestrated the victory by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists. The former international guard Zakhar Pashutin (196-74) contributed with 19 points and 5 assists for the winners. The former international guard Egor Vyaltsev (192-85) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 assists and guard Andrey Mateyunas (180-88) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Triumph Lyubertsy. Four Unics Kazan and five Triumph Lyubertsy players scored in double figures. Triumph Lyubertsy's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Unics Kazan maintains first place with 12-4 record. Triumph Lyubertsy lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Unics Kazan will play against league's second-placed Lokomotiv in Kuban in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Triumph Lyubertsy will play at home against Khimky (#5) in Khimki and hopes to get back on the winning track.
