Quarter-Finals Round 1: Real Madrid - Valencia 71-65

Real Madrid shined in the finish to beat Power Electronics Valencia 71-65 in Game One of the Euroleague Quarterfinals. The home squad got 14 points from Ante Tomic, while Sergio Llull and Nikola Mirotic added 11 pts each. Experienced Felipe Reyes helped the hosts with 10 points and 9 rebounds. In Valencia, Nando De Colo top-scored with 15 points. Rafael Martinez and Robertas Javtokas had 13 and 11 pts respectively. Real Madrid made quick 8-2 at the beginning and later jumped to 17-7 lead. Valencia replied with 2-9 run, but later the first quarter ended with 20-18 Real Madrid advantage. Valencia made 22-23 turn at the start of Q2 and was in charge for most of the period. However, the home squad was good in the finish and thanks to Suarez, Begic and Felipe Reyes, they were 33-32 up at the HT. Valencia was in trouble after the breather as Real Madrid moved up to 43-36, but visitors didn’t panic. Javtokas, De Colo and Martinez responded with 0-7 run and teams were tied again. Thanks to FT by Nando De Colo, Valencia entered the last ten minutes with minimum lead, 52-53. With 90 seconds remaining in the game the hosts were up by one, 64-63, but Tomic walked after that. Nando De Colo made a long jumper for 64-65 and Nikola Mirotic answered with a quick basket. De Colo missed at the other side and Mirotic drained a corner triple for Real Madrid. There was 18 seconds to go and De Colo missed again a turnaround jumper. Prigioni sealed the win from the line to make it 1-0 for Real Madrid. Second game will be played on Thursday and Real Madrid will be the host again.
