The game in Nizhny Novgorod supposed to be quite interesting. Third ranked Khimky (14-7) played at the court of 7th ranked BC Nizhny Novgorod (8-14). Khimky smashed BC Nizhny Novgorod 71-46 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of BC Nizhny Novgorod. The game was mostly controlled by Khimky. BC Nizhny Novgorod managed to win fourth quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding BC Nizhny Novgorod to just 2 points in third quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Sergey Monya (203-83) who helped to win the game recording 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Alexey Savrasenko (215-79) contributed with 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Belarusian forward Aliaksandr Pustahvar (201-85, agency: RU-Basket Management) replied with 8 points and 8 rebounds and forward Artem Yakovenko (206-88, agency: RU-Basket Management) added 10 points in the effort for BC Nizhny Novgorod. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Khimky maintains third position with 14-7 record behind leader Unics. Newly promoted BC Nizhny Novgorod keeps the seventh place with 14 games lost. Khimky are looking forward to face Enisey Krasnoyarsk (#6) on the road in the next round. BC Nizhny Novgorod will play against Dynamo Moscow and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
