Regular Season Round 1: Atomeromu - Szedeak 93-80
Date: October 8, 2011
Everything could happen in Paks at the game between two tied teams. Both leader Atomeromu and bottom-ranked Szedeak had identical 0-0 record. This time Atomeromu used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Szeged 93-80 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Atomeromu. Szedeak was better in third quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Atomeromu shot 61.0 percent from the field. American guard Lorenzo Williams (191-84, college: Rice, agency: Court Side) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 assists (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) for the winners. The former international swingman Tamas Kaman (200-79, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) chipped in 17 points. Atomeromu's coach Peter Volgyi used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Serbian power forward Nebojsa Dukic (206-85) produced 27 points and Serbian Tomislav Ivosev added 21 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Atomeromu went down to first position due to points difference, which they share with 5 other teams. Newly promoted Szedeak still closes the standings with one game lost. Atomeromu will face Soproni (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Szedeak will play against the league's leader Albacomp in Szekesfehervar.
