Regular Season Round 5: Atomeromu - Cegledi EKK 84-85

Cegledi EKK has registered their first victory this season after four consecutive loses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Szekszard, where they edged Atomeromu (0-5) 85-84 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 28-21. But Atomeromu won second period 25-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Cegledi EKK won last quarter 26-20. They made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Guard Katinka Orban (176-89) stepped up and scored 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Polish guard Katarzyna Cymmer (172-89) chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Cegledi EKK players scored in double figures. Montenegrin center Milica Cvetanovic (195-86) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and American guard Krisztina Szemeredi (176-77, college: Michigan St.) scored 22 points and 5 steals. Atomeromu's coach Sandor Foldi tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cegledi EKK (1-4) left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with Vasas. It was Atomeromu's fifth loss in a row. They still closes the standings with five games lost. Cegledi EKK will face Vasas (#8) in Budapest in the next round. Atomeromu will play on the road against BSE-FCSM in Budapest and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
