Zagreb grabbed its first Euroleague win ever. The Croatian champ celebrated in thriller against Zalgiris 80-78 to join them with 1-4 record in Group B. It was a very exciting finish. Paulius Jankunas tied the score to 78-78 with 27 seconds left on the clock and Mario Kasun made just one FT on the other side. After a timeout, Weems’ pass was picked off by Joshua Heytvelt. Zalgiris fouled Damir Mulaomerovic, who made just 1 free throw, and then the visitors grabbed the ball with 7.2 seconds left. Marko Popovic took it and passed to Kalnietis, who missed a shot at the buzzer allowing Zagreb fans to start celebration of their first Euroleague win ever. Krunoslav Simon led the hosts with 22 points (valuation 25). Joshua Heytvelt had double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Mario Kasun helped with 11 points and 5 rebs. Zalgiris got 24 points and 11 rebounds from Paulius Jankunas (Valuation 38, MVP). Marko Popovic and Milovan Rakovic scored 11 and 10 points respectively. Quarters: 21-20, 19-16, 17-24, 23-18. Zagreb will host Brose Baskets next week. Zalgiris will meet CSKA in Moscow.
