Regular Season Round 9: Monthey - Boncourt 80-72

Fourth ranked Monthey (5-3) beat at home 8th ranked Boncourt (1-7) by 8 points 80-72, which is the biggest margin this round. The hosts were already 13 points ahead at halftime and as many as 19 after three quarters before a 25-14 last quarter charge of Boncourt cut the lead to 80-72 at the end of the game. It was a good game for American guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) who led his team to a victory with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import swingman Ian Boylan (197-83, college: Cal.St. Northridge) contributed with 20 points and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. Monthey's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked SAM Massagno (#9) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. Boncourt will play against SAV Vacallo in Chiasso.
