Regular Season Round 7: Szolnok - PVSK Pannon 109-80

There was no surprise when 10th ranked PVSK Pannon (2-5) was crushed on the road by third ranked Szolnok (6-1) 109-80 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Szolnok. PVSK Pannon was better in third quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Szolnok dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to PVSK Pannon's 42. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by PVSK Pannon's players. International guard Obie Trotter (186-84, college: Alabama A&M, agency: Court Side) fired 26 points and 8 assists for the winners (made all of his eight free throws). Bulgarian forward Hristo Nikolov (200-85, agency: Global Sports Plaza) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. American swingman Jara Doyne (193-84, college: Mississippi) produced 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Serbian guard Andrija Ciric (199-80, agency: BeoExcell) added 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Five Szolnok and four PVSK Pannon players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Szolnok keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser PVSK Pannon keeps the tenth place with five games lost. Szolnok will face league's leader Falco-Szova in Szombathely in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. PVSK Pannon will play on the road against ZTE KK (#14) in Zalaegerszeg.
