Regular Season Round 8: Kecskemeti - Soproni 80-59

Rather expected game when 8th ranked Soproni (3-5) was smashed on the road by fifth ranked Kecskemeti (6-2) 80-59 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Kecskemeti. Soproni managed to win fourth quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kecskemeti shot 26 for 36 from the free-throw line, while Soproni only scored nine points from the stripe. Kecskemeti forced 21 Soproni turnovers. Strangely Soproni outrebounded Kecskemeti 42-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Serbian guard Ivan Vukadinov (193-81) who scored that evening 14 points and 4 assists and the former international guard Krisztian Wittmann (185-85, agency: FCM) supported him with 13 points and 6 assists. Five Kecskemeti players scored in double figures. Even 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) by Nigerian center Benson Egemonye (207-83, college: Niagara) did not help to save the game for Soproni. Forward Gabor Gombas (197-85, agency: TSS Management) added 13 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Kecskemeti moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Szolnok. Loser Soproni dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Kecskemeti will meet league's leader Falco-Szova in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Soproni will play against Kormend (#3) and hope to secure a win.
