Regular Season Round 14: Ataman - Sojuz Zaretchny 63-57
Date: December 1, 2011
Very predictable result when second ranked Ataman (8-2) won against bottom-ranked Sojuz Zaretchny (1-9) in Rostov 63-57 on Thursday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Sojuz Zaretchny was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 16-6 charge of Ataman, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sojuz Zaretchny to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Ataman forced 20 Sojuz Zaretchny turnovers. Point guard Dramir Zibirov (187-86) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. The former international guard Sergei Vorotnikov (194-78) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Forward Aleksander Pushkin (203-87) replied with 18 points and 5 rebounds and guard Pavel Aleksandrov (196-89) added 18 points in the effort for Sojuz Zaretchny. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Ataman maintains second position with 8-2 record having just -7 point less than leader Ural Ekaterinb. Sojuz Zaretchny lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with nine games lost. Ataman will face Ruskon-Mordovia (#7) in Saransk in the next round where they are favorite. Sojuz Zaretchny will play on the road against Rjazan.
