Montepaschi booked a spot for Top 16. The Italian powerhouse managed to beat Union Olimpija in Ljubljana 57-63 on Thursday night. Visitors improved to 5-2 record in Group D, while Olimpija slipped to 1-5 with tiny chances to reach the next stage. Bo McCalebb scored 16 points for Montepaschi and Igor Rakocevic added 14 points, plus 6 rebounds. David Moss netted 13 pts, while David Andersen had 10 points and 8 boards. In Olimpija, Ben Woodside delivered 11 pts. Damir Markota shined with 10 points, 15 rebs and 5 assists, and Danny Green stooped too 10 pts and 6 rebs. Montepaschi made 0-6 run for 55-59 lead with less than 3 minutes left in the game. Olimpija kept trying threes that didn't go in and Bo McCalebb made things clearer for the guests with two free throws, 55-61, what was too much for Olimpija for rest of the way. Quarters: 15-21, 18-16, 16-16, 8-10. Montepaschi will meet Galatasaray in Istanbul next week, while Olimpia goes to Gdynia.
