Regular Season Round 11: Monthey - BBC Nyon 72-48

There was no surprise when 7th ranked BBC Nyon (2-8) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Monthey (7-3) 72-48 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Monthey. BBC Nyon managed to win fourth quarter 13-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Monthey dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to BBC Nyon's 28. The best player for the winners was American guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) who scored 31 points. International power forward Jonathan Dubas (201-91) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Monthey's coach Petar Aleksic felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Ryan Dermody (206-87, college: Wyoming) produced 11 points and 7 rebounds and Serbian swingman Srdjan Zivkovic (200-86) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Monthey. They maintain fourth place with 7-3 record. BBC Nyon lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Boncourt. Monthey are looking forward to face Starwings (#6) in Basel in the next round. BBC Nyon will play at home against Boncourt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
