Regular Season Round 10: Atomeromu - ZTE KK 88-70

Bottom-ranked ZTE KK (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 88-70 loss to sixth ranked Atomeromu (6-4) in Paks on Saturday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to ZTE KK's 28. They outrebounded ZTE KK 38-15 including a 29-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Atomeromu especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international center Gergely Koertelyesi (203-83, agency: TSS Management) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and American center Donald Cole (204-81, college: Sam Houston St., agency: Edge Sports) chipped in 21 points during the contest. Atomeromu's coach Peter Volgyi used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American guard Bryquis Perine (190, college: Wisc.-Green Bay, agency: Court Side) responded with 13 points and 4 assists and international forward Gergely Toth (207-89, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) scored 15 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Atomeromu moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Kecskemeti. Defending champion ZTE KK still closes the standings with ten games lost. Atomeromu will meet higher ranked Szolnok (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. ZTE KK will play against the league's leader Albacomp (#1) in Szekesfehervar and hopes to get finally their first victory.
