Dynamo Moscow can celebrate finally their first win this season after six consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Spartak St.Petersburg (2-5) 90-66 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Dynamo Moscow. Spartak St.Petersburg managed to win second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dynamo Moscow dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak St.Petersburg's 38 and made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Spartak St.Petersburg 35-23 including a 29-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Crystal Langhorne (188-86, college: Maryland) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import guard Kristi Toliver (170-87, college: Maryland) who added 30 points and 4 assists during the contest. Guard Olga Vorobjova (180-87) responded with 18 points and center Liubov Paskalenko (205-90) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dynamo Moscow (1-6) left bottom position moving up to ninth place. Loser Spartak St.Petersburg keeps the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Dynamo-GUVD. Dynamo Moscow will meet at home higher ranked Dynamo-GUVD (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Spartak St.Petersburg will play against Vologda-Chevakata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
