Regular Season Round 11: Szolnok - Atomeromu 68-96

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Szolnok (8-3) was smashed at home by sixth ranked Atomeromu (7-4) 96-68. The game was mostly controlled by Atomeromu. Szolnok was better in fourth quarter 29-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Szolnok to just 6 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Szolnok 39-22 including a 30-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Atomeromu especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Donald Cole (204-81, college: Sam Houston St., agency: Edge Sports) who scored 24 points and 8 rebounds. Power forward Ferdinand Morgen (206-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Four Atomeromu players scored in double figures. Atomeromu's coach Peter Volgyi felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. International guard Obie Trotter (186-84, college: Alabama A&M, agency: Court Side) produced 8 points, 11 assists and 5 steals and Bulgarian forward Hristo Nikolov (200-85, agency: Global Sports Plaza) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Atomeromu moved-up to fifth place. Szolnok at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Atomeromu's next round opponent will be league's leader Albacomp in Szekesfehervar and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Szolnok will play on the road against the league's second-placed Kormend and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
