Regular Season Round 8: Lokomotiv - Khimky 93-80

There was a change at the PBL leadership position after last games. Round 8 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Khimky (5-2). They were defeated by fifth ranked Lokomotiv (4-3) 93-80 on Friday night. The game was mostly controlled by Lokomotiv. Khimky managed to win fourth quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Khimky helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American-FYR Macedonian forward Jeremiah Massey (202-82, college: Kansas St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds and Slovenian power forward Primoz Brezec (216-79) who added 11 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Lokomotiv players scored in double figures. International forward Sergey Monya (203-83) responded with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Croatian-Bosnian guard Zoran Planinic (199-82) scored 17 points and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lokomotiv moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Spartak SP. Khimky at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by CSKA. Khimky will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Lokomotiv will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Spartak-Prim. in Vladivostok.
