Rather expected game when 3rd ranked Monthey (9-4) was edged on the road by first ranked Lugano Tigers (11-1) 70-68 on Saturday. Monthey was trailing by 11 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 21-17 charge of Lugano Tigers, which allowed them to win the game. American-British point guard Rod Brown (186-78, college: W.Michigan) scored 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and British power forward Ryan Richards (212-91, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 18 points during the contest. Four Lugano Tigers players scored in double figures. American point guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Ian Boylan (197-83, college: CS Northridge) scored 20 points. Lugano Tigers have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 11-1 record. Monthey at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost.
