Regular Season Round 15: Kormend - Marso NYKK 97-68
Date: January 14, 2012
Second ranked Kormend (13-2) crushed at home 9th ranked Marso NYKK (6-10) by 29 points 97-68, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Marso NYKK. The game was mostly controlled by Kormend. Marso NYKK was better in third quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Rashad Bell (201-82, college: Boston U.) who helped to win the game recording 28 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. His fellow American import power forward Darian Townes (208-84) helped adding 22 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was Serbian power forward Ivan Miskovic (203-84, college: Alaska-Fairb.) with 11 points and 9 rebounds and Montenegrin forward Damjan Kandic (208-84, agency: 011 Sports) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Kormend. They maintain second place with 13-2 record having just -1 point less than leader Albacomp, which they share with Falco-Szova. Loser Marso NYKK keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Kormend will face PVSK Pannon (#7) in Pecs in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game.
