Regular Season Round 16: Lugano Tigers - SAV Vacallo 88-76

LNA top team - Lugano Tigers (13-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat fifth ranked SAV Vacallo (8-6) 88-76. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of SAV Vacallo. The game was mostly controlled by Lugano Tigers. SAV Vacallo was better in second period 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely SAV Vacallo outrebounded Lugano Tigers 36-20 including 23 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Mohammed Abukar (208-85, college: San Diego St., agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Dusan Mladjan (199-86, agency: Interperformances) who added 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Lugano Tigers players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Rickey Gibson (191-84, college: Stillman) responded with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and his fellow American import power forward Matt Schneiderman (204-81, college: N.Iowa) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Lugano Tigers have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 13-1 record. SAV Vacallo at the other side keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Lugano Tigers will play against Boncourt (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. SAV Vacallo will play against Monthey and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
