Top 16 Round 1: Olympiacos - CSKA 78-86

CSKA Moscow stays undefeated in Euroleague this season. The Russian powerhouse celebrated 78-86 road win against Olympiakos for 1-0 record in Group E, Top 16. Participants of the same pool are also Anadolu Efes and Galatasaray. Nenad Krstic top-scored for the winners with 18 points, while Viktor Khryapa added 16 points and 8 rebounds. Ramunas Siskauskas and Andrei Kirilenko helped their team with 12 and 11 points respectively. On the other side, Olympiakos got 14 points from Martynas Gecevicius. Their second scorers were Kyle Hines (6 rebs) and Pero Antic with 13 points each. Teams were pretty leveled in the first ten minutes and actually CSKA ended the first period with minimum lead, 21-22. They made 34-38 during the Q2, but the Reds created 10-2 run after that for 44-40 lead at the halftime. Nenad Krstic and his teammates shined after the breather and they made 48-55. Thanks to Gecevicius, Printezis and Spanoulis, Olympiakos cut the margin to 58-62 for rest of Q3. Visitors jumped to 60-66 at the beginning of the last period and few minutes later they were already up by 11, 67-78. There was something more than 3 minutes to go and all what Olympiakos managed to do was minus 5 with one minute left, but free throws by Khryapa and a dunk by Siskauskas allowed CSKA to seal the win in style. In the next round CSKA will host Anadolu Efes. Olympiakos will meet Galasaray in Istanbul.
