Regal Barca had to work very hard to beat Bennet Cantu 65-60 on Thursday night. The Spanish champ has 1-0 record now in Group H of the Euroleague Top 16 sharing the first place with Maccabi Electra. Cantu and Zalgiris have 0-1. Chuck Eidson was the leading player in victory with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (valuation 24). Erazem Lorbek had 13 points and 9 rebs, and Marcelinho Huertas scored 11 points. In Cantu, Vladimir Micov (9 rebs) and former Barca player Gianluca Basile netted 13 points each. Giorgi Shermadini and Denis Marconato stopped to 9 pts each. Cantu had 15-18 lead at the end of the first quarter and 28-30 at the halftime. Teams changed in lead in the finish of Q3, which ended with 49-49 tie. Mostly owing to Chuck Eidson and Kosta Perovic, Regal Barca made crucial 10-2 run in the last quarter, which later allowed them to win this game. Quarters: 15-18, 13-12, 21-19, 16-11. Barca goes to Tel-Aviv next week. Cantu will host Zalgiris.
