Top 16 Round 1: Anadolu Efes - Galatasaray 68-62

Anadolu Efes celebrated 68-62 victory against Galatasaray on Thursday night. It was a Turkish derby in the first round of the Euroleague Top 16 stage. Dusko Savanovic paced Efes to victory with double-double of 16 points and 17 rebounds. He reached valuation 31 and was the MVP of this meeting. Sasha Vujacic top-scored for the hosts with 17 points and big guy Stanko Barac nailed 12. In the loosing squad, Luksa Andric delivered 14 points. Jaka Lakovic and Jamon Lukas Gordon had 13 and 10 points respectively. Anadolu Efes had wonderful beginning last night as they made 29-19 lead after ten minutes of play. The hosts kept double-digit margin until the halftime, but Galatasaray didn't give up and came to 52-48 and the middle of Q3. Barac and Vujacic responded for Efes helping it to reach 60-52 for rest of the period. In the finish of this game Galatsarary came to 66-60 with 1:57 left. Kinsey rescued Efes with a second-chance layup and even when Luksa Andric scored in penetration, a key offensive rebound by Dusko Savanovic made Efes seal the outcome in the final seconds and get a well-deserved, tough home win. Next week, Anadolu Efes goes to Moscow for the game against undefeated CSKA. Galatsaray waits Olympiakos.
