The game between second ranked Ataman (14-6) and eighth ranked Spartak V. (6-16) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Ataman was crushed by Spartak V. in Moscow 71-52. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ataman. The game was mostly controlled by Spartak V.. Ataman managed to win fourth quarter 12-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Ataman 50-26 including a 32-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Vladislav Trushkin (201-93) fired a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Forward Andrey Petukhov (204-86) chipped in 6 points and 8 rebounds. Four Spartak V. players scored in double figures. Swingman Igor Smygin (197-87, agency: Alti Sport) produced 14 points and 5 rebounds and the former international guard Valentin Kubrakov (194-72) added 8 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Spartak V. maintains eighth place with 6-16 record. Ataman at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the second position with six games lost. Spartak V. are looking forward to face higher ranked Rjazan (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ataman will play against Severstal in Cherepovec and is hoping to win this game.
