Top 16 Round 5: Galatasaray - Anadolu Efes 64-56

Galatasaray Medical Park handed 64-56 loss to Anadolu Efes on Wednesday night. It means that Galata improved to 3-2 record in Group E of the Euroleague Top 16 and will have to beat Olympiakos as a guest in the next round to reach the Playoffs. Anadolu Efes dropped to 1-4 with no chance to advance. Luksa Andric stepped up for the winners with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Joshua Shipp, Jamon Lukas Gordon and Jaka Lakovic netted 9 points apiece. For Anadolu Efes, Stanko Barac collected 16 points and 5 rebs. Sasha Vujacic had 15 points and 8 rebounds, while Sinan Guler stopped to 7 points. Galatasaray had a great start. They made 20-13 lead after ten minutes and jumped to 39-24 during the second period. Efes finally responded and cut the margin to 39-32 at the halftime. Ten minutes later it was 50-45 and Galatasaray opened the last period with 8-3 run. Efes came to minus six in the finish, but Jaka Lakovic iced the game from the line, 64-56, with 15.6 seconds left. Quarters: 20-13, 19-19, 11-13, 14-11. As mentioned above, Galatasaray will play in Greece next week. Anadolu Efes waits CSKA Moscow.
