Top 16 Round 5: Fener.Ulker - Unics 94-87 OT

In one of the most exciting games in Top 16 history, Fenerbahce Ulker rallied from a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit to edge Unics 94-87 in overtime in front of almost 12,000 fans at Ulker Sports Arena in Istanbul, Turkey in Group G on Thursday. Unics was better than FB Ulker in the first round 76-71, so Fener needed at least 6-point win to keep their Playoffs hopes alive. The hosts managed to do it and they needed an extra five minutes to improve its record to 2-3 in Group G. Unics slipped to 3-2 and the last round will give us an answer who will advance to the next stage. Unics will advance if they beat PAO next week or if Fener losses to Armani in Milano. In order to advance, Fener needs to beat Armani and PAO to win in Kazan. Bojan Bogdanovic had 20 points and 5 rebounds for Fener last night. Roko-Leni Ukic scored 18 and Emir Preldzic added 13 points. Unics got 33 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists from Lynn Greer (valuation 43). Michael Wilkinson (5 rebs) and Henry Domercant scored 17 and 13 points respectively. Unics held 73-79 lead with 1:23 remaining in regular time. Emir Preldzic and Bojan Bogdanovic made free throws to bring FB Ulker within 77-79 with 25.5 seconds left in regulation. Wilkinson missed foul shots and Roko-Leni Ukic beat the shot clock with a rainbow jumper that sent the game to overtime, 79-79, setting Ulker Sports Arena on fire. The hosts jumped to 87-83 during the OT and later free throws by Preldzic and Bogdanovic allowed FB Ulker to get a 94-87 lead with 6 seconds left. Unics had the last possession, but they were unable to score. Quarters: 21-26, 21-18, 13-24, 24-11, 15-8 OT. Last round of Top 16 phase for Group G teams is scheduled for February 29.
