Top ranked Lugano Tigers (18-2) recorded its second loss on the court of seventh ranked Boncourt on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Boncourt 100-91. It ended at the same time the 16-game winning streak of Lugano Tigers. The game without a history. Boncourt led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They outrebounded Lugano Tigers 39-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. Boncourt looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Lugano Tigers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Serbian-Bosnian center Nemanja Calasan (203-85, college: Purdue) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. American point guard John Sharper (186-84, college: San Diego St.) chipped in 29 points and 5 rebounds. American-British point guard Rod Brown (186-78, college: W.Michigan) produced 26 points and 4 assists and American swingman Edwin Draughan (196-82, college: Yale) added 19 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Boncourt maintains seventh position with 6-14 record. Defending champion Lugano Tigers still keep top place with two games lost. Boncourt are looking forward to face higher ranked Fribourg (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lugano Tigers will have a break next round.
