Regular Season Round 24: Lugano Tigers - Geneve Lions 72-74

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Lugano Tigers (18-3) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked Geneve Lions (16-6) 74-72. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 21-8 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Geneve Lions outrebounded Lugano Tigers 42-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Sean Barnette (195-86, college: Wingate, agency: Warren Sports International) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import guard Tony Brown (193-79, college: Arkansas St.) who added 24 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was Montenegrin forward Zarko Rakocevic (204-84) with 16 points and 8 rebounds and international swingman Derek Stockalper (198-84, college: Cal Poly - SLO) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Geneve Lions and five Lugano Tigers players scored in double figures. Geneve Lions maintains third position with 16-6 record having just one points less than leader Lugano Tigers. Defending champion Lugano Tigers still keep top place with three games lost. Geneve Lions are looking forward to face SAM Massagno (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Lugano Tigers will play against Starwings (#6) in Basel and are hoping to win this game.
