Regular Season Round 24: Monthey - SAV Vacallo 86-76

Date: March 10, 2012
Rather predictable result when second ranked Monthey (16-5) defeated at home 5th ranked SAV Vacallo (11-10) 86-76. The game was mostly controlled by Monthey. SAV Vacallo was better in fourth quarter 25-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding SAV Vacallo to just 7 points in first quarter. Monthey made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American guard Kelvin Parker (183-82, college: NW Missouri St.) who scored that evening 25 points and 7 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots) and international power forward Jonathan Dubas (202-91) supported him with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Even a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds by American forward Marcus Sloan (205-82, college: TCU) did not help to save the game for SAV Vacallo. Lithuanian forward Rokas Uzas (202-88) added 15 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Monthey have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 16-5 record having just two points less than leader Lugano Tigers. SAV Vacallo at the other side keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. Monthey will play against Fribourg (#4) on the road in the next round. SAV Vacallo will have a break next round.
