Regular Season Round 15: N.Novgorod - Khimky 74-79

Very expected game when 10th ranked BC Nizhny Novgorod (1-11) was defeated at home by second ranked Khimky (9-2) 79-74 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But BC Nizhny Novgorod won third quarter 16-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Croatian-Bosnian guard Zoran Planinic (199-82) who scored 20 points and 7 assists. International guard Vitaly Fridzon (195-85, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 19 points. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Semen Antonov (202-89, agency: RU-Basket Management) who recorded 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Serbian guard Ivan Paunic (194-87, agency: Beo Basket) added 22 points respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Khimky. They maintain second place with 9-2 record having five points less than leader CSKA. BC Nizhny Novgorod lost their ninth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. They share it with Enisey. Khimky will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. BC Nizhny Novgorod will play against Triumph Lyubertsy (#3) in Lubertsy.
